Breast and testicular cancer are the two most common types of cancer in young adults. They can also be detected early by simple a self-exam, which means a BETTER CHANCE OF SURVIVAL. So take this seriously and check yourself - it could save your life!
It's easy to "Touch Yourself and Trust Yourself"! Just follow our simple three-step plan:
Know Your Testicles
- Know how they normally look and feel. They should be egg-shaped, firm and smooth.
- The best time to check them is monthly after a warm shower. The water relaxes the skin and it's easier to feel things.
Take Note of Changes
- Feel for lumps or hard areas, heaviness, swelling, or pain in the abdomen or groin.
- It is normal to have one testicle bigger than the other.
- Not everything you find is cancer! In fact it rarely is. The idea is to learn what's normal for you and to pay attention to changes.
Go With What You Know
- If you find a change, or if something just doesn't feel right, talk to your doctor or someone you trust.

Know Your Breasts
- The best time to examine your breasts is monthly, after your period.
- After a warm shower, look at and feel your breasts in various positions: standing with arms at sides, hands on hips, arms raised over head, leaning forward and lying down.
Take Note of Changes
- Look and feel for lumps, dimpling, flattening, redness, changes in shape, discharge, or pain in the breast or armpit.
